Job summary

Management & Training Corporation's East Texas Treatment Facility in Henderson, TX is seeking a full-time Laundry Supervisor. You will supervise inmate laundry workers, help plan laundering schedules and ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment while keeping accurate records in compliance with MTC and TDCJ directives.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED plus experience in laundry, supply/inventory, or correctional custody. Texas driver’s license is required unless waived.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• 1 year full-time laundry experience or 1 year full-time supply/purchasing/inventory experience or 18 months correctional custody or law enforcement experience.
• Valid driver’s license in Texas with acceptable driving record unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate laundry workers and assist with planning laundering schedules.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of laundry equipment; perform routine and preventive maintenance.
• Perform tests on wash formulas and manage quality control.
• Wash, dry and fold inmate items; assist with security functions incl. pat and strip searches as required.
• Provide and conduct safety training for all laundry employees.
• Train and supervise inmate workers and conduct safety training including MSDS documentation.
• Assist with receipt, storage, repair, and issue of inmate necessities; perform inventory.

Job responsibilities:

You’ll supervise the Inmate laundry workers and be responsible for assisting with planning laundering schedules, proper use and maintenance of equipment, and maintaining records of operations in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

Essential functions:

1. Assist in planning work schedules to meet all production requirements.
2. Assist with the supervision of operation of laundry equipment; perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment.
3. Perform test on wash formulas.
4. Wash, dry and fold Inmate items as needed which requires, lifting, bending squatting, and long periods of standing. Push and pull laundry carts. Perform security functions including “pat” and “strip” searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions.
5. Provide and conduct safety training programs for all laundry employees.
6. Train and supervise an Inmate work force in the laundry/necessities operation and conduct safety training for Inmate workers and laundry services employees to include Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
7. Assist with the receipt, storage, repair, and issue of Inmate necessities; perform inventory of Inmate necessities.

Education and experience requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• One (1) year full-time, wage-earning commercial or institutional laundry experience. - - OR - - One (1) year full-time, wage-earning supply, purchasing, or inventory and stock control experience. - - OR- - Eighteen (18) months full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
