Job Summary

Laboratory Assistants/Phlebotomists are non-professional personnel trained in various areas of the clinical laboratory to support efficient operations. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, preparing send-out tests, answering phones, and assisting in chemistry, hematology, and microbiology departments. The role requires the ability to work independently, be versatile across laboratory tasks, and collaborate effectively with team members. The person should also be capable of managing computer systems and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), troubleshooting processing issues, and assisting Clinical Laboratory Scientists with automated instruments.

Education, Experience, and Training

• High school diploma or equivalent; AA or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of two years' experience as a phlebotomist.
• Certified for venipuncture and skin puncture (CPT).
• Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
• At least four years of clinical laboratory experience, including two years as a Laboratory Technician, Lead Laboratory Assistant, or Lab Assistant Supervisor.
• Experience with LIS and computer proficiency.
• Good organizational skills.
• Experience with automated chemistry, hematology, or microbiology instruments is preferred.
