Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a laboratory professional to perform a variety of routine and complex procedures under the guidance of a medical technologist. The role requires decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, physical or clinical laboratory science and have experience in a clinical laboratory. Travel between sites may be required.

• Experience in clinical laboratory desired.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information.
• Operates, calibrates, checks, maintains instrumentation and communicates with a certified medical technologist if issues arise with quality controls.
• Performs test order entry accurately and efficiently to ensure proper testing and charges of patient accounts.
• Participates in medical technology learning models or technical development modules for growth and development of the laboratory.
• Provides support such as answering telephones, faxing reports and reporting stat and critical value results.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

• Operates, calibrates, checks, maintains instrumentation and communicates with a certified medical technologist if there are any problems with quality controls.
• Performs test order entry accurately and efficiently to ensure proper testing and charges of patient accounts.
• Participates in medical technology learning models or technical development modules to ensure growth and development of the laboratory.
• Provides support such as answering telephones, faxing reports and reporting stat and critical value results.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
