Job Description

The Emergency Medical Science (EMS) Lab Assistant supports the EMS Curriculum program by providing student and faculty support during laboratory sessions. Responsibilities include maintaining program compliance with accreditation standards (GTCC, AHA, CoAEMSP, CAPSE) and assisting with course paperwork, lab setup, scenario exercises, and activity evaluations. The position reports to the Director of EMS Programs and the Division Chair.

Responsibilities

1. Assist with course paperwork and lab/class services.
2. Support scenario and role-playing exercises.
3. Evaluate classroom and lab activities.
4. Maintain student records.
5. Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Required

• Associate degree in EMS or related field from a regionally accredited college.
• North Carolina Paramedic Certification.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in EMS or related field.
• EMS-specific instructor certifications (ACLS, BLS, PALS, PHTLS, etc.).
• North Carolina EMS Level I Instructor certification.

Experience

• Relevant field experience in EMS required; more than one year preferred.
• Teaching experience in a post-secondary setting preferred.

Additional Requirements

• Mandatory GTCC training upon hire and annually.
• Compliance with CDC standards.
• Physical ability to perform EMS tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
