Job summary

Delaware North Gaming is seeking an Assistant Kennel Master at Wheeling Island Casino in Wheeling, WV. You will help manage the greyhound environment, provide basic care, and supervise operations in the lock-out kennel for fast-paced racing days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure lock-out and cool-out area, ensuring kennels are properly locked and sanitized before and after each racing performance.
• Inspect the lock-out environment and greyhound holding crates prior to each race, monitoring ambient temperature and overall conditions.
• Oversee placement and removal of greyhounds in designated crates and inspect each dog for general health before handing off to the leadout.
• Report any signs of injury or illness to the State Veterinarian promptly and ensure compliance with all greyhound racing rules and policies.
• Supervise cleaning procedures, including mopping and water removal, to maintain hygiene and safety standards throughout the facility.

As an Assistant Kennel Master, you will be responsible for managing greyhound's environment, basic care, and supervision while in the lock-out kennel. Unit Description

Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in Wheeling, West Virginia, is a Delaware North-owned-and-operated regional gaming destination featuring 1,300 electronic gaming machines, 22 table games, live greyhound racing, and simulcast wagering. Wheeling Island also features a 151-room hotel, many dining options, and a 1,000-seat showroom.

• Ability to handle dogs ranging from 50-100 pounds Environment Details: Exposure to dog urine/fecal matter/dander/odors, high volume noise, dirt/sand/dust, possible hazardous materials/fumes(cleaning supplies).
