These positions are eligible to participate in the university's open promotion plan for advancement to a higher rank.
Consistent with UCF Regulation 3.0177, Instructional Designers are non-tenure-track, in‑unit faculty whose critical responsibilities encompass three areas of online and blended education at UCF: pedagogical partnerships, faculty development programming, and course quality assurance and designation. Instructional Designers steward the success of online and blended initiatives through these three key areas of responsibility.
Instructional Designers also engage in scholarship and service contributions aligned with the mission and goals of the unit.
Establish and maintain supportive and productive working relationships with instructors and academic units to support the design, development, and improvement of online and blended courses. This includes providing both proactive and responsive guidance on instructional and pedagogical strategies, technology innovations, course quality, and effective teaching practices.
Apply instructional design models and frameworks, evidence‑based strategies, and innovative uses of technology to create and enhance learning experiences in partnership with instructors. This includes developing, co‑developing, and/or supporting curation of course materials; coordinating collaborations with other teams involved in content production; and ensuring instructional quality in online and blended environments through quality review, revision, and designation processes.
Lead the planning, development, and delivery of robust faculty development opportunities that support instructors teaching in online and blended environments. This includes creating resources and facilitating training to communicate and reinforce best practices in teaching and learning, as well as collecting participant feedback and responsively adjusting offerings.
Participate in activities that support the functioning and advancement of the ID team, CDL, and DDL, including strategic planning, process improvement, policy development, and cross‑team and/or special initiatives. This includes providing consistent and reliable service to stakeholders and making meaningful individual contributions toward executing projects and meeting unit goals.
Use feedback, data, and evaluation practices to improve courses, instructional strategies, processes, programs, and outcomes. This includes responding to instructor and student feedback and contributing to iteration and improvement of initiatives. Seek and acquire new skills and knowledge to enhance individual contributions and improve project, team, and institutional outcomes.
Manage workflows, ensure projects are completed on time and meet stakeholder expectations. This includes coordinating tasks, maintaining and reporting on progress, and ensuring projects align with strategic goals and stakeholder needs.
UCF requires all applications and supporting documents to be submitted electronically through the Human Resources employment opportunities website, https://www.ucf.edu/jobs/.
The selected candidate will be required to submit official transcripts (and, as applicable, U.S. degree equivalency evaluations) documenting the conferral of their qualifying academic credentials.
