Position Summary
The Assistant Installation Manager supports and partners with the Installation Manager in leading all branch installation operations. This role contributes to ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with company quality standards.
In addition to daily operational support, this role takes on increasing responsibility for scheduling, field coordination, customer satisfaction, materials readiness, and team development. The Assistant Installation Manager serves as a key liaison between crews, customers, and internal teams while developing into a future Installation Manager.
This position reports directly to the Installation Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Scheduling
- Assist in managing daily installation scheduling, ensuring proper crew placement based on job size, skill set, and geography
- Review upcoming jobs for readiness, scope, labor requirements, and material availability
- Support capacity planning and help maintain branch lead times and service levels
- Respond to schedule changes due to weather, production delays, or callouts
- Coordinate remeasurements, final checks, and job readiness activities
Crew Leadership & Field Coordination
- Serve as a daily support contact for installers, measure technicians, and service technicians
- Help resolve routine jobsite issues and escalat complex concerns as needed
- Conduct field visits, ride-alongs, and jobsite inspections to verify progress and quality
- Reinforce company standards for workmanship, safety, professionalism, and customer service
- Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring of new installers and technicians
- Support performance feedback, coaching, and development of field staff
Customer Experience
- Act as a secondary escalation point for installation-related customer concerns
- Handle routine inquiries and ensure timely communication with customers
- Follow up on open service items, callbacks, and warranty issues
- Help ensure a clean, professional, and positive installation experience from start to finish
Quality Control
- Assist with post-install inspections and ongoing quality audits
- Monitor callbacks, incomplete jobs, and recurring installer issues
- Identify workmanship concerns and support corrective actions
- Ensure installations align with company standards, manufacturer specifications, and best practices
Materials & Inventory Support
- Review job files, measure notes, and material lists for accuracy and completeness
- Track missing materials, remakes, and service parts
- Help ensure all installation materials, accessories, and trim are available before scheduled jobs
- Support inventory tracking, truck stock management, and material usage control warehouse support responsibilities when needed, including:
- Assisting with unloading material deliveries and trucks
- Maintaining and organizing inventory
- Assisting installers with loading materials for their scheduled jobs each day
Safety & Compliance
- Reinforce company safety policies, OSHA standards, and safe work practices
- Ensure crews use proper PPE and maintain compliant jobsite behavior
- Help track installer and subcontractor licensing, insurance, and certifications
- Support documentation and follow-up related to incidents or compliance issues
Operational Performance & Leadership Development
- Support productivity tracking, run rates, and operational efficiency goals
- Take ownership of assigned processes, tasks, and improvement initiatives
- Partner with the Installation Manager to drive continuous improvement in quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
- Act in a leadership capacity in the Installation Manager’s absence when needed
- Actively develop toward a future Installation Manager role through hands‑on experience and mentorship
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in residential construction, home improvement, or window/door installation
- Prior experience in scheduling, dispatching, crew coordination, or team leadership preferred
- Strong working knowledge of construction terminology, installation processes, and jobsite operations
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, scheduling systems, and mobile tools (Salesforce/Leap preferred)
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
