Assistant Infant Teacher Job Description
Position: Assistant Infant Teacher
Reports To: Academy Director
Position Summary
The Assistant Infant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for infants (6 weeks to 12 months). This position follows all Colorado Office of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing regulations and helps ensure the daily care, supervision, and development of each child.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all infants
- Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily routines and activities
- Help with feeding, diapering, and maintaining proper hygiene practices
- Follow safe sleep policies in accordance with Colorado regulations
- Maintain required staff‑to‑child ratios at all times
- Supervise infants during play, rest, and transitions
- Help keep the classroom clean, organized, and sanitized
- Assist with documenting daily activities (feeding, diapering, naps)
- Communicate respectfully with families and team members
- Step into lead responsibilities when needed under supervision.
Required Certifications
- Must complete PDIS trainings
- CPR & First Aid (Infant/Child) certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Universal Precautions training
- Background check and fingerprinting per Colorado regulations
- Must be at least 20 years of age

- Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
- Basic understanding of infant care and development
- Strong communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- Frequent bending, sitting on the floor, and active engagement with children
- Ability to respond quickly to infants’ needs
