Job summary

Pine Valley Golf Club is seeking an Assistant in Training to join a renowned 18-hole private course in New Jersey. You will work closely with the Director of Agronomy and the crew to direct and monitor maintenance and to gain hands-on experience toward becoming an Assistant Superintendent after a season.

The role includes learning, applying pesticides and fertilizers, recordkeeping, and supervising daily course maintenance with an emphasis on safety and detail.

Qualifications

• Two- or four-year degree/certificate in agronomy and/or soil science, or currently enrolled in an online program.
• Must be able to obtain a New Jersey Pesticide license in a timely manner.

Assistant in Training Pine Valley Golf Club

Pine Valley Golf Club is a 18-hole private golf course founded in 1913, designed by George Crump. Pine Valley is ranked #1 in the World by Golf Digest. In addition to the Old Course, there is a 10-hole Short course designed by Tom Fazio and a 20-acre double-ended practice facility. Pine Valley Golf Club offers candidates an opportunity to be part of a constantly evolving golf club with construction projects happening each year.

Position Summary

Candidates will have the opportunity to be a part of a golf operation that is continuously evolving with various construction projects taking place each year. AITs will work closely with the Director of Agronomy, Superintendent and assistants to direct, and monitor all maintenance aspects of the golf course. The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, reliable, and eager to learn. Candidates must also have the willingness to work the hours required to uphold the high standards of Pine Valley Golf Club, as well as have a strong eye for detail with a desire to advance in the turf maintenance industry. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the proper handling, mixing, application of pesticides and fertilizers, and accurate recordkeeping. They will provide supervision and directly participate in the daily maintenance of the golf course.

This is an entry level position with the goal of becoming an Assistant Superintendent after a season of being an AIT.

Experience Requirements

• Prior experience working on a golf course.
• A team player who is capable of working with other assistants and crew members.
• A detailed oriented individual.

Educational Requirements

• Must be able to assist in scheduling, evaluating staff performance, and upholding safety standards.
