Summary
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management, such as cashiering, merchandise display, register procedures, and routine cleaning. They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates, and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high-level duties specific to that role, with most responsibilities shared.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
- Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude, providing legendary service
- Answer questions regarding store and merchandise confidently
- Help Guests locate or select merchandise based on their needs
- Suggest additional items and create a wardrobe experience to fulfill Guest needs
- Demonstrate product knowledge and share sales education with the team
- Stay informed about current sales, promotions, policies, and security practices
- Maintain personal sales goals and support team sales efforts
- Provide excellent service in all store areas: front, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register
- Understand exchange and return procedures and turn them into showmanship opportunities
- Use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily to meet goals
- Meet or exceed performance standards in all business areas, including loyalty programs
- Expand Guest selection through inventory management tools and product searches
- Build and maintain good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business
- Lead by example with showmanship and attentive customer service
- Recognize Guest Levels and communicate with the team
- Ask business-driven questions to Managers and Teammates
- Be coachable, welcoming feedback to improve sales presentations
- Perform leadership actions consistently, regardless of Manager presence
- Plan sales goals with the Store Manager
- Take ownership of store sales performance and demonstrate product passion
Teammate Recruiting, Training, and Development
- Recognize recruiting opportunities using various referral tools
- Coach and develop relationships through Guest Loyalty programs
- Lead and motivate new Teammates to meet standards and goals
- Create a positive floor culture with a positive attitude
- Demonstrate and promote current fashion and dress code
- Participate in daily training and review sessions
- Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks
- Show passion for denim showmanship and fit cards
- Develop results within your department and execute departmental plans
- Utilize department calendars and tracking tools
- Engage Guests with product demonstrations
- Update team regularly and remember Guest names
- Show proficiency in merchandise presentation for both Gals and Guys
- Assist Store Manager with store education focus and delegate tasks
- Support all segments to achieve business goals
- Assist in recruiting efforts and communicate pay and benefits
- Maintain contact lists and recruit top talent
- Train on leadership tools and uphold store standards
- Identify and address training needs
- Own zone management and execute visual standards and merchandising opportunities
- Conduct store tours and improve visual results independently
Operations
- Work flexible schedules including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Utilize planning tools and complete opening/closing checklists
- Recognize and handle security risks and thefts
- Follow Loss Prevention guidelines and POS procedures
- Handle calls professionally and maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations
- Follow policies on payments, returns, and exchanges
- Navigate store tools effectively
- Maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store environment
- Report merchandise concerns and policy violations promptly
- Complete all necessary paperwork and tasks promptly
- Assist in merchandise markdowns, freight handling, and inventory management
- Build relationships with corporate departments for effective store operation
- Monitor and maintain store supplies and handle emergencies appropriately
Supervisory and Leadership
- Provide and accept feedback professionally

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months retail experience or equivalent
Physical Demands
Regularly stand, walk, handle objects, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear. Occasionally sit. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Visual acuity required. Work environment is moderate noise.
