Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with training participants in the rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities as directed by the head coach.
• Assess strengths and weaknesses and provide constructive feedback while informing the head coach.
• Supervise participants until they leave the site.
• Follow procedures in the event of a student-athlete's injury.
• Maintain high standards of student-athlete behavior.
• Serve as a positive role model on and off the field/site.
• Encourage student-athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
• Maintain relationships with administrators, parents, students, and coaches.
• Follow district regulations; perform other duties as assigned.

Assistant High School Track Coach

Job Description

The Valley Park School District invites passionate, energetic, student-centered coaches to apply for the Assistant High School Track Coach position. The ideal candidate possesses both a high level of knowledge of track and field events and a passion for helping student-athletes grow socially, emotionally, physically, and academically today in preparation for tomorrow.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Assist the head coach with instructing and training participants in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport;
• Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach;
• Assess strengths and weaknesses in participants' performance as well as provide encouragement and constructive feedback while keeping the head coach informed of participants' performance;
• Assist the head coach in providing supervision of all participants until they have left the building and/or site;
• Follow established procedures in the event of a student-athlete's injury;
• Maintain high standards of student-athlete behavior;
• Act as a positive role model to students on and off the court/field/site;
• Encourage student-athletes to maintain a high academic standard.
• Maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, students, and coaches;
• Follow MSHSAA and District regulations; and
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Position: Part-time temporary, season-specific.

Education: Minimum 60 credit hours.

Certification: Missouri State Teaching Certificate or Missouri Substitute Certificate.

Experience: Prior coaching or playing experience in the sport preferred. Working with school-aged children and background in education are strongly desired.

Compensation:Extra Duty Stipend: Based on experience.

FLSA Status: Exempt, Professional Exemption-Teacher.
