Mandan Public Schools is seeking an Assistant High School Cheerleading Coach to assist the head coach in coaching student athletes in competitive cheerleading techniques to prepare them for events or competition. The position requires attendance, collaboration with administrators, and adherence to district procedures, including the background check process for final candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience as a competitive cheerleader at high school or college level preferred.
• Demonstrate effective coaching techniques and skills.
• Thorough knowledge of cheer rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

• Works with cheerleaders during practices and meets.
• Assists the head coach with organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages student participation.
• Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
• Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time for individual and team development.
• Coaches and instructs cheerleaders regarding rules, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Observes cheerleaders during events and practice to determine needs for improvement.
• Monitors pupil behavior and provides supervision of students.
• Monitors academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
• Follows procedures in the event of an injury and regulations governing the program.
• Models sportsmanship and appropriate conduct toward cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
• Manages supplies and uniforms and follows procedures for ordering.

Position Summary:

The assistanthigh school cheerleading coachis responsible for assisting the head coach with coaching student athletes in competitive cheerleadingtechniques to prepare them for events or competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.

• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.
• Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
• Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
• Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
• Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Qualifications:

Experience as a competitive cheerleader at the high school or college level is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate effective coaching techniques and skills, thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

Supervision Received

This position is directly supervised by the Head Coach.

Employment requires satisfactory completion of the interview process and verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment.

A state and federal background check will be conducted on the final candidate.
