Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. is seeking an Assistant Head Mechanic in Tonawanda, NY. This role supports the Head Mechanic by overseeing daily shop operations, coordinating highly skilled technicians, and ensuring the fleet remains safe and compliant.

The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00am to 4:00pm with competitive hourly pay. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on truck repair, experience supervising shop staff, and a commitment to quality maintenance and safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on commercial truck repair experience.
• Experience supporting or supervising mechanics in a shop environment.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and compliant maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Mechanic in overseeing daily shop operations.
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles.
• Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues with mechanics.
• Maintain repair logs, parts usage, and service records.
• Collaborate with Fleet Management to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics.
• Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Head Mechanic to support the team. This role is ideal for a hands-on commercial truck mechanic who can assist in leading shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fleet performance.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Mechanic in overseeing daily shop operations
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles
• Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventative maintenance tasks
• Work closely with mechanics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
• Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and service records
• Collaborate with Fleet Management and Dispatch to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
• Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics
• Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or community college courses in automotive technology or related fields is preferred
• 5+ years' of hands-on commercial truck repair experience
• Experience supporting or supervising mechanics in a shop environment
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required
