Job summary

Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. in Tonawanda, NY is seeking an Assistant Head Mechanic to support the team with hands-on repairs and shop leadership for our commercial truck fleet.

You will oversee daily maintenance, diagnostics, and safety compliance, collaborate with Fleet Management, and mentor mechanics to maintain reliable, efficient service while meeting production goals. CDL preferred but not required; 40–45 USD hourly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred.
• 5+ years' hands-on commercial truck repair experience.
• Experience supervising mechanics in a shop.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Compliance with safety and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Mechanic in overseeing daily shop operations.
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy duty vehicles.
• Oversee, assign, and support routine and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Work closely with mechanics to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
• Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and service records.
• Collaborate with Fleet Management and Dispatch to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and performance support for mechanics.
• Ensure shop safety, cleanliness, and compliance with company policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Buffalo Biodiesel Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Head Mechanicto support the team. This role is ideal for a hands-on commercial truck mechanic who can assist in leading shop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant fleet performance.
