Job summary

Portage Learning is seeking an Assistant Group Supervisor for Learning Lighthouse Child Development Center in Chippewa Township, PA. This full-time, non-exempt position supports the Lead Teacher and Group Supervisor, supervising children and assisting with lesson plans, classroom activities, and daily care.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, willingness to obtain clearances, First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days, and a commitment to safety and developmental learning.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required; no experience needed but 2 years with children preferred.
• Background checks and clearances required (Child Abuse, State Police, FBI Fingerprinting, National Sex Offender Registry, Mandated Reporter for Child Abuse).
• Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within the first 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead in the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher or Group Supervisor.
• Assist in the supervision of children and help adjust, learn, and socialize.
• Assist in implementing lesson plans into daily activities focusing on learning, play, and kindergarten readiness skills.
• Maintain daily records of observations, activities, meals served, and medications administered.
• Assist in supervising students, implementing lesson plans, creating crafts, and communicating with parents.
• Perform other duties as assigned related to the classroom.
