The Assistant Director at Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston’s childcare center in Malden, MA, supports the Director with administrative duties, ensures compliance with state and local regulations, and supervises teaching staff.

Qualifications

  • Lead Teacher Qualified
  • BA in early childhood, or related field preferred; minimum AA
  • Three years teaching experience
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of Lead Teachers and Teachers, or Family Child Care Home Coordinators
  • Provide leadership in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and child assessment
  • Assist the Director with administrative duties, including enrollment interviews, parent visits, intake, file and account maintenance, tuition collection and deposit, ordering of food and supplies, meal planning, staff scheduling and substitutes, and month-end billing
  • Assist the Director in fostering parent participation through newsletters, events, conferences, volunteer activities, parent council, and other activities
  • May temporarily serve in a teaching capacity to cover for the absence of a regular teacher
  • Assist in planning and implementing projects such as accreditation
  • Attend required meetings and trainings, possibly during evenings
  • Model the CCAB mission to respect dignity of all people
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct
  • Maintain a plan for professional development (IPDP) and stay current in PQ Registry
  • Physical, mental and emotional ability to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $55,102.00 To $70,000.00 Annually

The Assistant Director is responsible to assist the Director of Childcare Services, or the Program Director, with administrative functions of the center as assigned, and in compliance with state and local regulations, Catholic Charities policies and procedures, and accepted early childhood practices. In the absence of the Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of Lead Teachers and Teachers, or Family Child Care Home Coordinators
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and child assessment
  • Assist the Director with administrative duties, which may include enrollment interviews and parent visits, intake, file and account maintenance, collection and deposit of tuition, ordering of food and supplies, meal and snack planning, staff scheduling and calling substitutes, preparation of bills for payment, and preparation of month-end third party billing
  • Assist the Director in developing and fostering parent participation in the program, which may include a newsletter, parent social events, conferences with teachers, volunteer activities in the classrooms, parent council, and other activities
  • May temporarily serve in a teaching capacity to cover for the absence of a regular teacher, or in family childcare may serve as a home coordinator
  • Assist the Director in planning and implementing other projects as requested, e.g. accreditation
  • Follow through with all Agency directives, and assigned tasks and projects, in a professional and positive manner, respecting supervision and constructive criticism
  • Model the CCAB mission statement to “respect the dignity of all people”
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings, which may involve evening hours
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work cooperatively with colleagues
  • Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct and professional responsibility, including maintaining confidentiality, to children, families, staff, colleagues, the Agency and the community.
  • Have a plan (IPDP) for his/her own professional development, staying current in the field through attendance at workshops and conferences, reading relevant literature and/or taking courses, staying current in the PQ Registry
  • Physical, mental and emotional ability to accomplish the job, including evacuating the building, with or without corrective devices and accommodations, including the ability to read and write, to hear the conversational voice, to speak and be understood, the ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Other duties as assigned
