Job summary

Blain’s Farm & Fleet is seeking a Grooming Assistant in Michigan to support grooming appointments and client service. The role offers full-time hours with a competitive benefits package and opportunities for growth.

Compensation includes base pay up to $15.00/hr with a weekend premium of $2.50/hr. Candidates should be able to work evenings and weekends and pass a background check. Training and associate discounts are part of the benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills.
• Retail or grooming experience preferred.
• Ability to work evenings and at least every other weekend.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and receive pets for appointments.
• Schedule grooming appointments.
• Ensure wellness and safety of pets.
• Prepare dogs for grooming: bathing, drying, brushing; ear cleaning; nails.
• Perform routine cleaning of the salon.
• Assist in shop/self-service area as needed.
• Perform Retail Cashier duties.
• Work under the Groomer and Salon Manager to meet safety and standards.
• Demonstrate awareness of Loss Prevention and safety policies.

Compensation

Job Duties

Assist customers scheduling appointments, answering questions, and bathing, brushing, and drying pets.

This can include, but is not limited to:

• Greet customers and receive in pets for appointments
• Schedule appointments for grooming
• Ensure wellness and safety of pets
• Prep dogs for grooming:
  • Bathing, drying, and brushing
  • Ear cleaning
  • Nail trimming
• Perform routine cleaning of salon
• Assist in shop/self-service area as needed
• Perform Retail Cashier duties
• Work under the direction and guidance of the Groomer and Salon Manager to ensure they are performing duties safely and up to Blain’s and industry standards
• Demonstrate awareness and compliance with Loss Prevention and safety policies and/or procedures
• Keep work area neat and orderly

Qualifications

• Great communication skills
• Prior Retail/Grooming experience preferred
• Able to work evenings when needed and at least every other weekend
• Able to pass a background check
