Job summary

Naperville Park District seeks an Assistant Golf Superintendent to support the daily maintenance of the golf course under the Superintendent of Golf Grounds. The role includes supervising part-time staff, planning maintenance tasks, and ensuring high-quality course conditions.

The position requires turf management knowledge, pesticide licensing within six months, and the ability to operate golf course equipment; Spanish/English bilingual preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Associate's degree in Turf Management or related field.
• Minimum one year of turf/green industry experience or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license; pesticide operator/applicator license within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, scheduling, and supervising golf course maintenance to industry standards.
• Coordinate daily course presentation including mowing, bunkers, course setup.
• Supervise irrigation and drainage system operation and maintenance.
• Inspect course facilities for safety and cleanliness; prioritize repairs.
• Operate and maintain golf maintenance equipment; manage work areas.
• Perform administrative duties: inventory, budget, reporting, record-keeping.
• Apply pesticides as needed for weed, insect, and fungal control.
• Supervise part-time staff and assist with hiring, training, and performance reviews.
