Job summary

The Grand seeks an Assistant Golf Professional to support daily golf operations and member services at our championship course. Under the Head Golf Professional, you will assist in program planning, events, and customer service to deliver a Grand golf experience for residents and guests.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in golf, a valid AZ driver’s license, and are personable and service-oriented. Preferred PGA Level I and familiarity with POS and golf software.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in golf industry or equivalent experience with valid Arizona driver’s license.
• PGA Level I preferred; familiarity with POS and golf handicap software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining relations with men’s and women’s clubs and residents/visitors.
• Support player development programs and tournament management.
• Keep pro shop merchandised, stock inventory, and promote golf equipment and apparel.
• Help manage pro shop and player assistant operations and staff.
• Support equipment rental, check-in, fee collection, and course scheduling.
• Post rates and hours, operate POS, and handle cash accurately.
• Greet customers, provide exceptional service, and stay current with golf rules.

Overview

DEFINITION: Serves as an Assistant Golf Professional for a championship golf course. Under the direction of the Head Golf Professional, this position assists in the management of the daily golf operations, program planning, promoting customer service policies and procedures to ensure a Grand golf experience to the residents and guests of The Grand. The Assistant Golf Professional plays a key role in daily golf operations, member services, and assists with golf-sponsored events. The ideal candidate should be personable, service-oriented and passionate about delivering a warm, high-quality golf experience to our residents and guests.

Experience Required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

2+ years' experience in the golf industry; or a combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above. Must possess, and maintain, a valid Arizona driver's license.

Preferred: Completion of PGA Level I; knowledge of and use of computerized point-of-sale equipment and golf handicap programs; NorthStar and Chelsea software experience.

Essential Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist in maintaining an effective relationship with men's and women's clubs as well as the golfing residents and visitors;
• Assist with player development programs;
• Assist in tournament management;
• Ensure pro shop sales floor is fully merchandized, well maintained, and orderly; order and stock inventory; promote and sell golf equipment and supplies including such items as golf clubs, bags, tees, balls, and clothing;
• Assist in managing the pro shop operations/staff and the player assistant operations/staff;
• Support Golf Shop Assistants in equipment rental, customer check-in and fee collection, schedule course of play and practice range use, and managing phone calls;
• Support Player Assistants in Ranger, Starter, and Golf Cart Attendant responsibilities;
• Assist in posting all rates and services including lessons, rentals, range balls, greens fees, and hours of operation;
• Operate the point-of-sale system, including cash handling in an efficient and accurate manner; ensure daily revenues are accounted for and reported;
• Greet and welcome customers in a friendly and helpful manner;
• Provide exceptional customer service to all homeowners and visitors;
• Keep current with golf rules and regulations;
• Help ensure facilities and equipment are clean;
• Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance;
• Keep current with events and activities occurring at The Grand; and
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds (golf bags, range baskets, merchandise boxes).
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
