Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Administers POS, green fee sales, merchandise, and member billing.
  • Coordinates policy revisions with Accounting; updates implemented.
  • Reconciles daily tee sheets, check-ins, and collects payments from members/guests.
  • Resolves discrepancies in charges and payments.
  • Initiates and promotes club golf activities and outings.
  • Creates lesson plans and provides individual and group instruction.
  • Maintains a clean, well-stocked golf shop and assists merchandising.
  • Assists in staff hiring, training, and supervision.

Job description

Woodholme Country Club, located in Pikesville, MD, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for an Assistant Golf Professional! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you'll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

The Woodholme Country Club golf course was designed in 1927 by Herbert Strong, one of the pillars of the 'Golden Age of Golf Design.' Built over natural terrain with minimal earth movement. Features small greens, deep green-side bunkers, and undulating fairways. Significant elevation changes add to its uniqueness. Pure bent grass greens, tees, and meandering fairways. Five sets of tees, ranging from 5,503 to 7,226 yards with seven water crossings, five par 5's, and an uncommon par 73. The course is impeccably maintained, a true hidden gem.

General Purpose

Assists in administering all daily operations including, but not limited to facilitating sales, assisting with merchandise, operating POS system, managing handicap and tee sheet applications, acts as ranger, starter, guest relations, outside service or golf shop shifts.

Essential Duties
  • Administers all point of sales application revisions and needs as it applies to green fee sales, merchandise sales, and member/guest billing.
  • Coordinates with Accounting Departments all policy and procedure revisions, updates, and implementation.
  • Reconciles daily tee sheets, performs check-in, and receives payments from members and guests.
  • Resolves discrepancies as it applies to duplicate charges and over or under payment.
  • Track all force posts and no-show charges as applicable.
  • Initiates and promote all club golf activities.
  • Creates lesson plans and provides both individual and group instruction.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and well-stocked golf shop.
  • Assists retail buyer with procurement and merchandise and shop assistants with merchandising and sales.
  • Supervises preparations for all golf outings including scorecards, cart labels, rules sheets, score sheets, format sheets, favors, pairing sheets and hole assignments.
  • Monitors all members' scores, reports handicapping to USGA and bills members.
  • Assists the Manager in interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining maintenance associates addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Assists in the management of department members that may include, but is not limited to: Starters, Player Assistants, and Guest Services Attendants.
  • Ensures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate.
  • Assists in developing ongoing training programs.
  • Assists in monitoring business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
  • Conducts staff meetings with subordinates.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience
  • Associate's degree (AA); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly stands, walks and sits.
  • Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches.
  • Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms.
  • Frequently talks or hears, tastes or smells.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Environment/Noise
  • Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather).
  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses
  • Current PGA/LGPA Membership
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences
  • Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with computerized POS and tee time system.
