Job summary

Transit Valley Country Club Inc is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to work with the Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining and improving the golf course. This role offers hands‑on experience with course renovations, agronomic practices, and irrigation management in a private club setting near Buffalo, NY.

You will lead daily maintenance activities, supervise staff, and help implement agronomic programs while maintaining high-quality playability and member experience.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of golf course maintenance or turfgrass experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work independently and with the leadership team.
• New York pesticide license preferred or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and supervising daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and practice facilities.
• Oversee mowing, watering, aerification, topdressing, fertilization, and course setup.
• Assist with fertilizers, plant protectants, and recordkeeping as required by regulations.
• Manage irrigation system operations, water management, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Lead and train golf course maintenance staff to maintain high standards.
• Contribute to agronomic programs to improve turf quality and playing conditions.
• Support budget planning, inventory management, and cost control.
