Job summary

Jefferson Landing in Jefferson, North Carolina, is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Superintendent to uphold high playing conditions, lead a crew, and ensure safe, efficient maintenance operations on outdoor turf areas.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily tasks, assisting with fertilization and pesticide applications, overseeing irrigation systems, and preparing the course for events.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as an assistant superintendent.
• Bentgrass/cool-season grass experience strongly preferred.
• Irrigation experience is a plus.
• NC Pesticide applicator licence or willingness to obtain licence within 90 days of hiring date.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Golf Course Superintendent with daily planning and execution of golf course maintenance operations.
• Help oversee and direct the maintenance crew and daily assignments.
• Assist with fertilizer, pesticide, and other turfgrass applications in accordance with all applicable regulations and label requirements.
• Monitor turf health and identify disease, insect, weed, drainage, and irrigation issues.
• Assist with the installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system.
• Assist with seasonal turfgrass programs and course improvement projects.
• Help maintain equipment and keep the maintenance facility and work areas clean and organized.
• Monitor course conditions and communicate maintenance needs to the Superintendent.
• Help prepare the golf course for daily play, tournaments, and special events.
• Follow and promote proper safety procedures and ensure equipment is operated safely.
• Work cooperatively with the golf shop, clubhouse, management, and other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.
