Job summary

Kohanaiki is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join the golf course maintenance leadership team on Hawai‘i island. The role focuses on delivering championship-quality conditions, learning Kohanaiki’s standards, and developing leadership capabilities to advance within the operation.

Responsibilities include planning, supervising daily tasks, and supporting budgeting, training, and environmental stewardship. Weekend rotation is required, with a supportive management team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–7+ years of golf course maintenance experience at a high-end facility.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture or related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of irrigation, fertility, chemical applications and crew supervision.
• Ability to lead, communicate effectively and make sound decisions under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent with planning, coordinating, and supervising daily maintenance operations.
• Assign, monitor, and follow up on crew tasks to ensure safety and quality.
• Train and coach team members in equipment operation, irrigation practices, and safety procedures.
• Prepare daily work schedules based on staffing, priorities, and course conditions.
• Communicate course conditions and maintenance needs with leadership and team.
