Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is hiring an Assistant GIS Specialist for a 12-month contract in Akron, OH. The role focuses on GIS analysis, data development, mapping, and supporting project teams onsite.

Candidate should have a GIS-related bachelor’s degree and may have a GISP or Esri certification. Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcPy, Python scripting and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

• GISP or Esri certification is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently with accuracy and judgment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with GIS analysis, data development, collection and mapping for projects.
• Support GIS metadata creation, feature extraction and ownership data research.
• Assist with coordinate system projections and geospatial transformations.
• Create and update GIS maps, layers and geospatial databases.
• Assist with georeferencing raster and vector datasets.
• Support QA/QC of GIS deliverables to meet requirements.
• Use MS Teams, Excel, deeds and notes to develop GIS maps for field personnel.
• Regularly communicate project status with teams and clients.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Immediate need for a talented Assistant GIS Specialist

This is a 12 Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Akron, OH (Onsite).

Pay Range: $25 - $27/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with GIS analysis, data development, data collection, and mapping for client projects while supporting both internal and external project teams.
• Assist with GIS metadata creation, digital feature extraction, land survey record searches, and ownership data research from a variety of sources.
• Assist with coordinate system projections and geospatial data transformations for project deliverables.
• Assist in creating and updating GIS maps, map layers, and geospatial databases.
• Assist with georeferencing raster and vector datasets.
• Support ad-hoc analyses and provide recommendations to help achieve business goals related to quality, billability, and utilization.
• Assist with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of GIS deliverables to ensure compliance with client and project requirements.
• Utilize software applications and information from various sources (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Excel, deeds, field notes, and other project documentation) to develop GIS maps supporting field personnel and client deliverables.
• Regularly communicate project status with project teams and clients to support successful project execution.
• Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• Key Skills- ArcGIS Pro, GIS analysis, ArcGIS Online, Microsoft Office applications, and GIS data management
• Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• GIS Professional (GISP) certification or an ESRI technical certification is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently while demonstrating accuracy, reliability, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment with demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Basic proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
• A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
