Pyramid Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Assistant GIS Specialist for an Akron, OH onsite role under a 12+ month contract.

The candidate will assist with GIS analysis, data development, mapping, metadata creation, and geospatial research to support client projects and internal teams. Responsibilities include coordinate system handling, geospatial transformations, map creation, QA/QC, and collaboration with project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• GISP certification or ESRI technical certification preferred but not required.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with GIS analysis, data development, collection, and mapping for client projects.
• Assist with GIS metadata creation, feature extraction, and ownership data research.
• Assist with coordinate systems and geospatial data transformations for deliverables.
• Create and update GIS maps, layers, and geospatial databases.

Job description

Immediate need for a talented Assistant GIS Specialist. This is a 12+ Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Akron, OH (Onsite).

Pay Range: $25 - $27/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with GIS analysis, data development, data collection, and mapping for client projects while supporting both internal and external project teams.
• Assist with GIS metadata creation, digital feature extraction, land survey record searches, and ownership data research from a variety of sources.
• Assist with coordinate system projections and geospatial data transformations for project deliverables.
• Assist in creating and updating GIS maps, map layers, and geospatial databases.
• Assist with georeferencing raster and vector datasets.
• Support ad-hoc analyses and provide recommendations to help achieve business goals related to quality, billability, and utilization.
• Assist with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of GIS deliverables to ensure compliance with client and project requirements.
• Utilize software applications and information from various sources (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Excel, deeds, field notes, and other project documentation) to develop GIS maps supporting field personnel and client deliverables.
• Regularly communicate project status with project teams and clients to support successful project execution.
• Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

• Skills- ArcGIS Pro
• ArcGIS Online (AGOL)
• Esri Enterprise and other Esri products
• ArcPy and basic Python scripting
• Microsoft Office Suite
• GIS data management and cartography
• Technical writing
• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• GIS Professional (GISP) certification or an ESRI technical certification is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently while demonstrating accuracy, reliability, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment with demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Basic proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience is preferred.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
• A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
