Ames High School is seeking two Assistant Track Coaches for the 2027 spring season within the Ames Community School District. The roles involve coaching, supervising practices after 4:00 p.m., and supporting the Head Coach to develop athletes’ skills and teamwork.

The positions require an Iowa coaching authorization and prefer HS coaching experience. The stipend is a $3,945 seasonal pay, with a schedule of 2–3 hours daily, 4:00–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, plus some nights and weekends during

Responsibilities

• Supports Head Track Coach while instructing athletes about fundamentals of track.
• Attends practices and coaches at individual, small group, and team levels.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
• Communicates effectively with coaching staff, student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
• Participates in events including banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Follows District policies and maintains confidentiality at all times.

Work Schedule

2-3 hours per day (4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m) Monday-Friday with various nights and weekends during the season.

• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Communicates effectively with coaching staff, student-athletes, parents, and school administration.
• Participates in special events to include banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Abides by strict confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications:
