Job summary

West Valley School District #363 at West Valley High School in Spokane, WA, is seeking an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 season. The role supports the Head Coach in coaching, practice management, eligibility, transportation, equipment, and game-day operations, with duties aligned to district policies and WIAA rules.

Both leadership and organizational abilities are essential, as well as First Aid/CPR certification, strong communication, and willingness to be fingerprinted.

Qualifications

• First Aid/CPR certification currently held or obtainable by start of season
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
• Interpersonal skills promoting positive attitudes with students, staff and community
• Effective oral and written communication abilities
• Knowledge of WIAA and district sports rules
• Willingness to be fingerprinted for background check
• Three years coaching experience preferred; head coaching experience desired

Responsibilities

• Coaches individual participants in skills necessary for athletic achievement
• Work with Athletic Director to establish non-league schedules
• Attend meetings as called by Athletic Director/Head Coach
• Supervise athletes at all times during practice, games, travel, and in locker rooms
• Instill citizenship and sportsmanship in coaching environments
• Prepare practice areas and maintain equipment and gym facilities
• Enforce school policy for extracurricular participants
• Notify Athletic Director of injuries and file accident reports
• Maintain first-aid procedures and stay updated on sports-related regulations
