Job summary

Northfield Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach for the high school, a part-time role beginning 10/26/2026. The position involves 2-3 hours per day, 5-6 days per week, at the high school site, with a stipend of $5,655 plus potential experience pay where applicable.

The coach will assist in instruction, training, and conditioning of athletes, uphold sportsmanship and ethics, and coordinate with the Head Coach, Activities Director, and Principal to implement program

Qualifications

• Experience coaching basketball at high school or college level.
• Pass a criminal background check and comply with licensing/certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with selections, instruction, and conditioning of all athletes.
• Help enforce Coaches' Code of Ethics and promote sportsmanship.
• Follow policies in Coaches' Handbook and conference rules.
• Supervise assistant coaches and ensure policies are applied.
• Support health, safety, and well-being of team members.
• Help maintain competitive and inclusive team culture free from hazing.
• Adhere to season start/end dates for the sport.

Qualifications

Candidate will have played, competed in, or coached the sport or activity at the high school or college level. Candidates will also complete all Northfield and MSHSL professional development requirements. Candidate will pass a criminal background check. Head Coaches must have or be able to obtain a Head Coaching License or appropriate certification.

Responsibilities

Accountable to: Head Coach, Activities Director and Principal.

Primary Objective: To assist the head coach in selection, instruction, training, and conditioning of all athletes/teams assigned to him/her by the head coach. Northfield Schools, the Principal and Athletics/Activities Director places an expectation not only on the skills, abilities and commitments of its coaches, but also on their integrity and collective common sense in performing their duties.

• To demonstrate and generate among your staff players an attitude of good sportsmanship and fair play by adhering to the Coach's Code of Ethics.
• To know and administer the policies, procedures, and guidelines set forth in the Coaches' Handbook, Conference, and policies for your sport and supervise assistant coaches in carrying out the same as they apply to your assignment.
• To carry out responsibilities as designated by the head coach.
• To provide for the health, safety, and well-being of team members.
• To actively work to create a culture free from hazing and initiations.
• To adhere to the starting and ending dates for your sport.
• To be aware of all MSHSL rules that would pertain to you and your sport.
