Job summary

Northfield Public Schools is seeking a Co-Head Boys Track & Field Coach at the high school level. The role involves assisting the head coach with athlete selection, training, and conditioning, under the guidance of the Athletics/Activities Director and Principal.

The position requires high school or college level participation/experience in track and field, completion of Northfield and MSHSL professional development, and successful criminal background checks.

Qualifications

• Candidate will have played, competed in, or coached the sport or activity at the high school or college level.
• Candidates will also complete all Northfield and MSHSL professional development requirements.
• Candidate will pass a criminal background check.
• Head Coaches must have or be able to obtain a Head Coaching License or appropriate certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in selection, instruction, training, and conditioning of all athletes/teams assigned to him/her by the head coach.
• Demonstrate and generate among staff players an attitude of good sportsmanship and fair play by adhering to the Coach's Code of Ethics.
• Know and administer the policies, procedures, and guidelines set forth in the Coaches' Handbook, Conference, and policies for your sport and supervise assistant coaches.
• Carry out responsibilities as designated by the head coach.
• Provide for the health, safety, and well-being of team members.
• Actively work to create a culture free from hazing and initiations.
• Adhere to the starting and ending dates for your sport.
• Be aware of all MSHSL rules that pertain to you and your sport.

Scheduled Hours/days: 2-3 hours/day, 5-6 days/week

Stipend: $4,037.50 plus Years of Experience Pay if applicable.

Qualifications: Candidate will have played, competed in, or coached the sport or activity at the high school or college level. Accountable to: Head Coach, Activities Director and Principal.

Primary Objective: To assist the head coach in selection, instruction, training, and conditioning of all athletes/teams assigned to him/her by the head coach. Northfield Schools, the Principal and Athletics/Activities Director places an expectation not only on the skills, abilities and commitments of its coaches, but also on their integrity and collective common sense in performing their duties.
