Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Warren, MI is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the branch's daily operations and to partner with the General Manager as the primary owner of Fresh Buying. This role also supports an ESOP culture by engaging the ESOP representative.

You will lead with the General Manager, oversee purchasing, inventory, and customer experience, supervise on-duty coverage, and drive continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in sales, logistics, inventory, or management.

Responsibilities

• Partner with General Manager in overseeing branch performance, customer experience, operations, and finances.
• Act as leader-on-duty and provide coverage in GM's absence.
• Engage in business planning, budgeting, inventory management, and performance monitoring.
• Foster teamwork, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to site projects and initiatives to build leadership capability.
• Support purchasing, replenishment, and inventory planning with Central Purchasing.
• Oversee inventory accuracy and best care handling to maximize freshness and reduce waste.
• Monitor product movement and opportunities for better turns.

The Assistant Manager is a key role responsible for supporting the successful operation of the branch. The Assistant Manager will serve as the General Manager’s primary partner and will take ownership of Fresh Buying. This role will also support a positive employee-owner culture by supporting the ESOP representative in engagement activities.

Leadership & Business Partnership

• Partner with the General Manager in the oversight of all aspects of the Branch including performance, customer experience, operational execution, and financial results.
• Serve as a leader-on-duty and provide management coverage in the absence of the General Manager.
• Participate in business planning, budgeting, inventory management and monitoring ongoing branch performance.
• Lead by example in fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to site specific and broader projects and initiatives that build leadership capability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partner with Central Purchasing and department leaders to support effective purchasing, replenishment, and inventory planning.
• Oversee inventory accuracy, utilizing the best care & handling procedures to maximize freshness and reduce dump.
• Monitor product movement, identify opportunities for improved turns.
• Support department managers in maintaining product in line with predicted customer demand.
