Assistant General Manager - Pizza Ranch & FunZone

Pizza Ranch in Mason City is looking for a motivated, dependable Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our leadership team.

The AGM works closely with the General Manager to lead our team, deliver a great guest experience, control costs, and oversee the day-to-day operation of both the restaurant and our FunZone Arcade.

We are looking for someone who isn't afraid to jump in and work alongside the team, can hold people accountable, understands the importance of controlling food and labor costs, and takes ownership of the operation.

Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

• Assist the General Manager with the overall day-to-day operation of the restaurant and FunZone

• Serve as Manager on Duty and take ownership of the operation when the General Manager is not present

• Lead by example and actively work alongside team members, especially during busy periods

• Help recruit, hire, train, coach, develop, and retain team members and shift leaders

• Hold team members accountable for attendance, performance, guest service, cleanliness, and company standards

• Assist with employee scheduling and make staffing adjustments based on sales and business needs

• Monitor and help control labor costs, food costs, waste, overtime, and other controllable expenses

• Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, product rotation, and proper storage

• Ensure proper food preparation, portioning, product quality, and buffet presentation

• Manage buffet production to provide a great guest experience while minimizing unnecessary food waste

• Monitor sales, labor, food cost, inventory, and other key operating results and take action when goals are not being met

• Deliver excellent guest service and professionally resolve guest questions or concerns

• Maintain high standards for food safety, sanitation, restaurant cleanliness, and organization

• Oversee FunZone operations, including guest experience, cleanliness, prize inventory, game functionality, and basic troubleshooting

• Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, deposits, and other financial controls

• Support carryout, delivery, catering, group events, and other opportunities to grow sales

• Help execute promotions, community events, and local marketing initiatives

• Identify equipment and maintenance issues and help coordinate solutions

• Communicate regularly with the General Manager and ownership regarding staffing, operations, guest concerns, and business performance

• Help create a positive and accountable workplace where team members are treated fairly and expected to perform at a high level

• Continually look for opportunities to improve sales, profitability, efficiency, and the overall guest experience

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

• Previous restaurant, food service, retail, hospitality, or entertainment management experience preferred

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and hold team members accountable

• Ability to effectively lead a team and manage restaurant and FunZone operations

• Understanding of labor management, scheduling, food cost, inventory, waste control, and other key restaurant performance measures

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent guest-service skills

• Ability to remain organized and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to train and develop team members and future leaders

• Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to take ownership of results

• Willingness to work alongside the team and lead by example

• Comfortable with cash handling, deposits, and basic restaurant financial controls

• Basic computer and point-of-sale system skills

• Ability to maintain and enforce food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, safety, and company standards

• Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties associated with restaurant and FunZone operations

• Must be at least 18 years of age
