Job summary

Tenpins & More in Rio Rancho, NM seeks an Assistant General Manager to lead floor operations, elevate the food & beverage program, and build a strong team for busy nights, events, and league play.

You will be on the floor guiding guest experiences, managing labor, and ensuring safety and service standards while coordinating with the General Manager. This hands-on role emphasizes leadership, training, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • 2–3+ years of supervisory or shift-lead experience in food & beverage, hospitality, retail, or entertainment/recreation.
  • Comfort leading a team in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment — including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience with staff scheduling and day-to-day labor management.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills; able to make sound calls on the floor without waiting for sign-off on every decision.
  • Genuine willingness to learn and understand all facets of a bowling and entertainment center — front of house, back of house, and everything in between.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a culture of hospitality — set the tone for how every guest is welcomed, treated, and remembered, and coach the team to anticipate guest needs rather than just react to them.
  • Help elevate our food & beverage program and overall atmosphere — raising the bar for our competitive league bowlers, our open play guests, and our group events.
  • Lead the floor during peak hours, directing operations and keeping service, cleanliness, and safety standards consistent even when it's busy.
  • Supervise and develop team members: participate in hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and (when needed) discipline.
  • Assist with scheduling to match staffing to demand, and support labor efficiency and expense-control efforts.
  • Own opening and closing procedures and the consistent day-to-day execution of operational standards.
  • Monitor what's happening on the floor, catch issues early, and escape what needs the GM's attention.
  • Keep inventory and ordering organized and on track, working closely with the team on the back-of-house functions that keep execution running at a high level.
  • Help align cost of goods sold (COGS) with company goals, and look for opportunities to improve margins.

Job description

Tenpins & More is looking for an Assistant General Manager to help lead the floor and help us elevate our food & beverage program — someone who thrives on keeping a busy, guest-facing operation running smoothly during our biggest nights and helps build the kind of team that makes people want to come back.

About Tenpins & More

Tenpins & More is a family-owned bowling and entertainment venue built around great guest experiences, a well-run house, and a team that takes pride in the details.

About the Role

As Assistant General Manager, you'll report to the General Manager and be the visible leadership presence on the floor — especially during evenings, weekends, and holidays when the house is busiest. You'll own day-to-day execution: keeping guests happy, keeping the team on schedule and accountable, and keeping an eye on labor and costs so the business runs efficiently. We're especially looking for someone with hands-on food & beverage or restaurant experience to help elevate our F&B program and build a better atmosphere for our competitive league bowlers, our open play guests, and our group events. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a desk job — expect to be out on the floor directing operations, not behind a computer. We're just as interested in your willingness to learn: this role touches every facet of a bowling and entertainment center, and we want someone eager to understand how all the pieces fit together.

What You'll Do
  • Champion a culture of hospitality — set the tone for how every guest is welcomed, treated, and remembered, and coach the team to anticipate guest needs rather than just react to them.
