Job summary

Goodwill Southwestern Pennsylvania is seeking an Assistant General Manager in Pittsburgh, PA. This hands-on leader will drive daily outlet operations, salvage, and distribution flow, acting as the on-site execution engine to ensure safety, staffing, and KPI adherence.

Responsibilities include coaching teams, conducting audits, coordinating with Transportation, and supporting hiring and onboarding. This role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to properly use basic systems (email, Excel, Teams, reporting tools).
• Working knowledge of safety practices, labor deployment, and operational controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily shift execution across Outlet, Salvage execution, and Distribution/Warehouse functions to meet safety, service, throughput, and quality expectations.
• Reinforce and audit operational standards (housekeeping, staging, storage discipline, traffic flow, and safety zones).
• Coordinate with Transportation as directed to support trailer readiness, turns, and daily movement needs.
• Execute audits/checklists and correct quality misses through coaching, retraining, and process reinforcement.
• Enforce PPE, safe work practices, and hazard reporting; stop work and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and schedule coverage planning; help stabilize staffing and reduce turnover.
• Track shift-level performance, capture issues, and communicate clearly to the GM and supervisors (wins, misses, constraints, needs).

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a highly hands-on site leader responsible for daily execution across Outlet operations, Salvage execution, and Distribution/Warehouse flow for an assigned location. The AGM serves as the "execution engine" of the building—driving shift-level performance, reinforcing standards, maintaining floor presence, and ensuring consistent safety, staffing coverage, workflow follow-through, and operational readiness. Working closely with the General Manager and supervisors, the AGM translates daily priorities into disciplined execution, removes barriers in real time, and ensures the site maintains a consistent operating rhythm (huddles, shift handoffs, audits, KPI check-ins). The AGM acts as Manager-on-duty in the GM's absence and plays a key role in talent development, training, and sustaining Operational Excellence and a People-First culture.

Duties will also include but are not limited to:

External Hiring Range: $48,000 up to $58,000/year

Schedule: Will vary, must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Travel: Local travel may will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent AND 3 year of experience
• Associates degree AND 2 years of experience
• Bachelors AND 1 months of experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated ability to lead shift execution, reinforce standards, coach teams, and solve problems in real time in an active operational setting.
• Ability to properly use basic systems (email, Excel, Teams, reporting tools).
• Working knowledge of safety practices, labor deployment, and operational controls
