The purpose of the Assistant General Manager (AGM) position is to assist branch management in executing complex QSR or casual dining restaurant operations. The AGM ensures the restaurant is clean, ready for business, staffed, and operates to high standards. The AGM uses prescribed policies and procedures to make management decisions.
Essential Functions:
- Completes opening, daily, and closing procedures/checklists in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assists the GM/F&B Multi-Unit Manager I in supervising day-to-day activities of associates within a defined restaurant or points-of-sale.
- Interviews job candidates, makes hiring, termination, promotion, or other status change decisions for associates. Promotes HMSHost as an employer of choice within the community.
- Reads and understands financial and operational data to monitor progress toward unit goals and assigns associates accordingly.
- Manages daily activities of associates within the restaurant or points-of-sale.
- Ensures the restaurant adheres to diversity and inclusion policies.
- Uses judgment and discretion to resolve customer and associate questions, referring complex issues to senior leaders when necessary.
- Ensures compliance with all adult beverage policies and procedures.
- Assigns tasks, prepares schedules, and ensures shifts are covered.
- Ensures associates take mandated rest and meal breaks.
- Maintains cleanliness, stock levels, and visual appeal of display areas.
- Ensures all equipment is in good working order.
- Operates cash register, handles transactions, and maintains cash security following HMSHost policies.
- Monitors and reports safety and wellness concerns, promoting safety awareness.
- Performs health and safety activities as specified in the Manager’s Guide.
- Places orders, receives goods, and processes invoices.
- Maintains current contact information for all restaurant associates.
Requirements:
- Ability to work shifts during various operating hours, including busy periods and closing.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local health, safety, and sanitary standards, including HACCP protocols.
