Job summary

Shamin Hotels is seeking an Assistant General Manager in Hampton, VA to support the General Manager in daily hotel operations and to uphold revenue, cost and quality standards. You will oversee day-to-day activities, supervise staff across departments, and ensure guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

The role requires strong financial acumen, 1-2 years of hotel experience, and a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or extensive experience in a hotel or related field.
• 1-2 years of hotel experience preferred.
• Strong financial knowledge required.
• Must be able to read, write and understand basic math and financial data.

Responsibilities

• Generates projected revenue levels through proper supervision of assigned departments and oversight of guest satisfaction.
• Participates in development of short- and long-term financial and operational plans for the hotel.
• Monitors and analyzes financial statements and departmental budgets.
• Establishes and maintains community involvement and ensures guest satisfaction.

Position Overview:

To act as the assistant to the General Manager in managing the hotel’s operations, maintaining established revenue, cost and quality standards. Oversees overall day-to-day hotel operations as delegated by the General Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Generates through proper supervision of assigned departments projected revenue levels as well as guest satisfaction.
• Participates in the development of short term and long term financial and operational plans for the hotel.
• Remains current on business trends and local activities.
• Meets assigned departmental budgets and monitors financial statements.
• Establishes and maintains an appropriate level of community involvement.
• Ensures proper handling of guest complaints.
• Assists in the development of new programs which results in an increased level of guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
• Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
• Ensures cross-selling of other Shamin Hotels by hotel staff.
• Teaching, mentoring, and directing hotel staff.
• Being comfortable with the high level of visibility and the leadership role within the hotel and community.
