Job summary

Carmelo’s Restaurant LLC in Covington, KY is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead daily operations, mentor a top-tier team, and uphold exceptional food and beverage standards. You will work closely with the General Manager to create an environment where guests feel valued and staff feel inspired.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of high-volume restaurant management experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

As the Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Carmelo’s, Beyond running the floor, you build the environment where employees thrive and guests feel valued. You’ll work side-by-side with the General Manager to drive daily operations, mentor a top-tier team, maintain high standards for food and beverage, and create an atmosphere where guests feel like family—and keep coming back for more. While we have a deep appreciation for wine, sommelier experience or a strong background in wine service is highly preferred but not required.

What You’ll Do

• Lead from the Front: Supervise daily floor operations, ensuring seamless service, high energy, and unforgettable guest experiences.
• Build & Inspire: Help recruit, train, develop, and retain a high-performing team of hospitality professionals.
• Drive Results: Partner with leadership on inventory, labor control, scheduling, and P&L accountability.
• Champion Quality: Maintain rock-solid standards for food quality, food safety, bar execution, and cleanliness.
• Embody the Culture: Foster a positive, inclusive, and fun work environment where team members thrive.
• Anchor the beverage program: Elevate the guest experience by actively guiding tableside wine selections, driving premium beverage sales, and leading engaging staff education sessions to build server confidence and upselling skills.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 2+ years of high-volume restaurant management experience. FOH/BOH leadership experience preferred.
• Leadership: A natural coach with strong communication skills and a passion for people development.
• Execution: Strong understanding of restaurant operations, financial performance, labor management, inventory systems, and the ability to turn plans into results.
• Energy: High energy, a cool head under pressure, and a deep love for great food, hospitality, and creating memorable guest experiences.
