Job summary

Transdev is seeking an Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in directing passenger transit operations in Elmira, NY. This role covers day-to-day contract operations, facility and safety of personnel and passengers, customer service, and financial management.

Key responsibilities include directing daily operations, strategic planning for operations staff, managing contract compliance, and scheduling and staffing under the facility's management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; 5+ years in a finance role or related field.
• 5+7 years of supervisory or management level experience in passenger transportation.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; ability to present data clearly.

Assistant General Manager

The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in directing the passenger transit operations. This position is based in Elmira, NY in supporting the C-Tran, CEATS and Steuben County Transit. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the contract, facility and safety of personnel and passengers, customer service and managing the financials.

• Competitive compensation package of minimum $70,000 – maximum $75,000 based on educational background and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directs daily operations management.

• Has shared responsibility for scheduling, performance evaluation, and staffing responsibilities for the facility's management staff.

• Travel requirement outside of immediate area <10%.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or 5+ years of experience in a finance role.
• 5+7 years of supervisory or management level experience in the passenger transportation industry
• Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws
• Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation
• Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments
• Ability to deal with state and local government
• Ability to manage cost control and financial/budget experience handling multiple locations
• Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs
• Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization
• Ability to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to details
• Ability to navigate Labor Relations issues and work effectively with union partners, including labor grievances, and negotiations.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
