Job summary

KemperSports Management seeks a capable Operations Manager for Redwood Canyon Golf Course in Castro Valley. Under the General Manager, you will assist daily operations across Facility, Golf Operations, and Tournament Ops, with evening/morning shifts as needed.

You’ll recruit, train, and supervise staff, organize outings and events, manage scheduling and inventory, and uphold sanitation standards. You’ll also lead marketing efforts and coordinate promotions.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of operational and/or managerial experience preferred.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Main contact for marketing and promotions for the golf course and restaurant.
• Working knowledge of tournament & golf operations.
• Knowledge of Golf Operations POS systems such as Lightspeed.
• Strong Excel and math skills; proficient with MS Office.
• Inventory control knowledge.
• Experience in leading and training staff.

Responsibilities

Redwood Canyon Golf Course is celebrated as one of the Bay Area’s most enjoyable golf destinations. Located in Castro Valley, the 18 hole golf facility is nestled away among the rolling hills of the east bay and is home to some of the most beautiful golf scenery in Northern California. Completely surrounded by breathtaking natural wild life including the San Leandro creek which comes into play on nearly every hole, the course offers some of the most unique golf around and is truly enjoyable for golfers of all levels.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the General Manager, this position will assist in the daily operations management in all areas of the Facility. Assists with Weekly, Monthly and Annual reporting, budgeting and merchandising for all areas. This position will require equal time in Facility Management, Golf Operations, and Tournament Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and evaluation of golf course employees, creating an environment for success.
• Conduct orientation and training program for all golf course staff.
• Organize and execute sales plan, pricing, and billing of outings and special events and in-house tournaments and events.
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of facility staffing needs. Oversee schedules and ensure that the facility is appropriately staffed for all shifts, covering shifts when needed or in event of any call-offs or shift changes.
• Institute and enforce inventory control measures including spot checks on product counts.
• Enforce sanitary practices inside and outside the Pro Shop, maintaining a regime of cleaning policies for both Pro Shop & Outside Service teams to abide by.
• Serve in the capacity of General Manager in the absence of the GM.
• Acts as the operations manager as the position will require evenings & mornings during Mon-Sun, and require covering shifts during slow business periods.
• Assist with tournament operations – contacting guests, receiving player counts, and preparing & managing the team when the event takes place.
• Maintain all Course social media & marketing accounts – sending out weekly/monthly e-newsletters as well as design/develop marketing materials for events or promotions ongoing at the course.
• Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of all safety program.
• Work as a Team Player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround time, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
• Hire, train, schedule and manage all employees in a positive, uplifting and gracious manor always leading by example.
• Own all systems and checklists to ensure compliance of organizational, cleanliness and sanitation standards.
• Assists with Month End inventory and reporting.

Qualifications

• Must possess working knowledge of tournament & golf operations
• Knowledge in Golf Operations POS systems, such as Lightspeed

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs

• Experience in leading and training staff

Supervises

Supervises the Pro Shop & Outside Services teams which includes all Pro Shop, Cart, Starter/Ranger, and Cart Mechanic roles.

Pay Range

$70,340 – $75,000

Classification

Full-Time, Non-Seasonal, Hourly, Non-Exempt.
