Reporting to the General Counsel, you will partner with HR and business teams, advise executives, manage investigations, and contribute to policy development in a fast-paced, sustainability-minded organization.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of relevant legal experience with labor and employment focus.
• Experience advising HR and business leaders on employee relations and investigations.
• Strong commercial and corporate drafting and negotiating of agreements.
• In-house experience in complex multi-location business environment preferred.
• Experience in food services industry or similar operation preferred but not required.

In-House Assistant General Counsel (Hybrid / Full-Time In-House Counsel) Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area

For an experienced, business-minded attorney who thrives on variety, this Assistant General Counsel role offers the opportunity to take a lead role on labor and employment matters while also taking on broad responsibility across commercial, corporate, and other legal matters. The Assistant General Counsel will join the lean legal team of an innovative, sustainability-focused business with operations across the country. This is a full-time position with a hybrid work schedule based in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area.

Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will have significant visibility across the organization and the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and business teams. The attorney will serve as a key legal partner to HR on labor and employment matters, while also taking ownership of a variety of commercial, corporate, compliance, litigation, and other matters in a fast-paced environment. The role offers the opportunity to broaden that responsibility over time based on the company’s needs and the attorney’s interests and capabilities. The ideal candidate will enjoy the breadth and variety of a generalist role and bring a responsive, practical, and client-focused approach to supporting the company and its business teams.

Basic Requirements of the In-House Assisstant General Counsel (Hybrid / Full-Time In-House Counsel) Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro area

• 8–10 years of relevant legal experience, with significant experience advising on labor and employment matters
• Significant labor and employment experience, including advising HR and business leaders on employee relations, workplace investigations, employment policies, performance and termination matters, and employment-related claims; experience with union or other traditional labor matters strongly preferred
• Strong commercial and corporate experience, including drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements and advising on a broad range of day-to-day legal matters
• Prior in-house experience, particularly within an operationally complex or multi-location business environment, preferred
• Experience in the food services industry or another operationally complex, multi-location business environment preferred but not required
• Ability to effectively manage and prioritize a varied workload in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal counsel while being highly responsive to internal clients
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with executives, HR, and business teams
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Licensed to practice law in Minnesota (or eligible for in-house exemption)
• Outstanding professional references

Compensation

Pay: The salary range for this role is $190,000 to $220,000. This position is also eligible for a generous bonus. Pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.
