Job summary

Plona Partners is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join the Office of General Counsel in Washington, DC. This is a unique internal advisory role intersecting professional responsibility, ethics, conflicts, regulatory compliance, investigations, risk management, employment, privacy, cybersecurity, and law firm operations.

Ideal candidates will bring 7+ years of experience, a JD, and DC Bar membership, with the ability to advise senior leaders on complex issues and handle privileged

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible legal experience.
• Active DC Bar membership and good standing.
• Strong knowledge of legal ethics and professional responsibility.
• Experience analyzing conflicts, confidentiality and privilege issues.
• Experience handling sensitive and privileged matters independently.
• Excellent legal research, drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to advise senior attorneys and business leaders on complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Advising on conflicts of interest, confidentiality, privilege and related professional responsibility issues.
• Identifying and mitigating emerging legal and regulatory risks for the firm.
• Managing sensitive disputes, subpoenas, investigations and related processes.
• Conducting privileged internal investigations and advising leadership on actions.
• Drafting and negotiating vendor, technology, data protection, and other agreements.
• Partnering with People Operations on employment-related matters and investigations.
• Collaborating with Information Security on privacy and cybersecurity matters.
• Developing guidance and training for attorneys and business professionals.
