Unite America seeks a full-time Assistant General Counsel to join its Legal & Compliance team in Denver, CO. The AGC will collaborate with the General Counsel, Strategy & Operations, and outside counsel to ensure lawful operations across the organization's entities.

The role offers hands-on training and opportunities to contribute to mission-driven compliance and policy work. Candidates should have a Juris Doctor and ideally experience in politics, nonprofit law, and/or compliance, with strong

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission to a U.S. state (or on track to sit for the bar).
• Strong legal, regulatory, and agency materials research skills.
• Rigorous attention to detail and high standards of execution.
• Ability to track, prioritize, and balance diverse responsibilities.
• Proactive mindset and willingness to develop expertise in new subjects.
• You value clear, timely, respectful communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in assessment of state campaign finance and lobbying law registration thresholds and reporting.
• Reviewing public communications and related campaign finance reporting.
• Identifying risks and working with outside counsel to mitigate them.
• Managing relationships with political compliance vendors.
• Drafting and reviewing contracts; vetting employees, vendors, and grantees.
• Preparing RFPs and reviewing grant applications for compliance.
• Onboarding staff for legal/compliance; developing policies and procedures.
• Training staff on organizational policies; coordinating with external counsel.
• Prioritizing legal/compliance workstreams for the General Counsel.
