Join us as an Assistant General Counsel - Contracts at Truist

This role involves supporting senior professionals within the Legal Department, maintaining strong relationships with internal clients, and serving as a trusted legal advisor, risk manager, and business partner.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate third-party contracts, including MSAs, OSAs, consulting agreements, and SOWs across various departments.
• Provide legal guidance on marketing, corporate communications, and non-profit matters, including reviewing collateral, press releases, advertising campaigns, and social media.
• Support attorneys and lines of business, assess legal risks, and provide advice on routine legal matters.
• Stay updated on relevant legislation, regulations, and case law affecting the banking industry.
• Prepare and review legal documents, represent the company in transactions, litigation, and dispute resolutions, and perform legal research.
• Develop expertise to support specific business areas and lead support on active cases or projects as needed.

Qualifications

Required

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and active license to practice law.
• Minimum of 5 years post-bar experience in law firm, government, or corporate settings.
• Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle a heavy workload and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred

• Experience in financial services or corporate legal departments, especially within financial institutions.
• Background in business or finance education.
• Experience drafting marketing or technology contracts, and knowledge of intellectual property, non-profit, and advertising law.

Additional Details

This position may require occasional sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 10 lbs. Availability for scheduled hours, including overtime, and up to 25% travel is expected.
