POSITION PURPOSE

Assists with the leadership of maintenance and repair services for the Plumbing Unit. Assists the Plumbing Foreperson with maintenance of all physical school plants, keeping each one in a condition of operating excellence so that it may be fully used at all times.

Salary: $59,536 - $71,716

POSITION PURPOSE

Assists with the leadership of maintenance and repair services for the Plumbing Unit. Assists the Plumbing Foreperson with maintenance of all physical school plants, keeping each one in a condition of operating excellence so that it may be fully used at all times.

Essential Job Functions
Facilities Inspection, Maintenance & Repair
  • Inspects District facilities and plumbing equipment; initiates repair by District staff or contractors.
  • Coordinates and assigns work to plumbing personnel; oversees project completion; coordinates contractor repairs.
  • Coordinates with Dispatch to monitor, prioritize, and adjust scheduling of work orders.
  • Works cooperatively with principals and facilities managers to schedule and complete repairs.
  • Monitors and inspects contract work, and conducts on-site inspection of all completed repair projects.
Inventory & Equipment
  • Coordinates preventive maintenance schedules; ensures that maintenance is completed and equipment is in safe operating condition; recommends replacement of existing equipment when necessary.
  • Conducts regular inventory of physical equipment and supplies; maintains accurate records; orders tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
Administrative
  • Coordinates or provides instruction and training to all plumbing personnel in safety procedures and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Monitors and coordinates continuing education for TDLR license holders.
  • Assists in developing both short- and long-range goals for the department.
  • Assists Foreperson in recruiting, screening, selection, and training of plumbing personnel; provides job performance data to inform personnel evaluations
  • Responds to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
SAFETY
  • Ensures staff perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

Travel Requirements
  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Plumbing tools and equipment including pipe bender, propane torch; hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including forklift, trencher, backhoe; light truck or van.
  • Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving.
  • Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis.
  • Environment: Works outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; works around gas lines; works around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
  • Special Requirements: Ability to respond to emergency work requests and to work overtime as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Education: Accredited High School diploma, GED, or Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency required.
  • Certifications: Valid Texas Master Plumber License required; Valid Texas drivers license required; Insurable by the Districts insurance carrier required.
  • Experience: 6 years of experience in plumbing required.
Insurability Requirements For All Drivers
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • NO positive drug or alcohol tests including pre-employment, random, post-accident or reasonable suspicion.
  • Driving and accident record: Valid Texas Department of Public Safety Driver Record Check Type 3A-Certified list of all crashes and violations http://dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/driverrecords.htm
  • NO more than 2 violations during previous 36 months including: moving traffic violations (including no more than 1 preventable accident); failure to provide proof of valid drivers license or proof of insurance; equipment violations.
  • NO Driving Under the Influence (DUI) for drug or alcohol.
  • NO leaving scene of an accident (bodily injury or physical damage).
  • NO vehicular assault, manslaughter, or homicide.
  • NO operating a vehicle with suspended or revoked drivers license.
  • NO reckless driving, speed contests, drag racing, or highway racing.
  • NO use of a vehicle in commission of a felony.
  • NO operating a vehicle without owners permission (unauthorized use or grand theft).
  • NO permitting an unlicensed person to drive. ? NO speeding more than 20 mph over the posted speed limit.
  • NO history of a conviction in a commercial or personal motor vehicle.
  • Additional restrictions may apply if directed by FWISDs Fleet Insurance Carrier.
