Job Description

• Coordinate a specific sport with a full team in compliance with MSHSAA standards.
• Assist in implementing athletic standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all required sessions.
• Assist in the coordination of the athletic program.
• Assist in supervising students at practices and contests.
• Provide information for transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
• Organize and schedule practice sessions regularly to develop student-athletes' potential.
• Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of best training and injury management procedures.
• Conduct practices and contests ethically, exemplifying high standards of sportsmanship.
• Assist in the systematic return of all school equipment according to the Athletic Department Handbook.
• Engage in professional growth through clinics and publications.
• Successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
• Fulfill 8 contact hours of professional development, including 4 hours at district-level meetings, 3 hours at school-level meetings, and 1 hour outside meetings or clinics.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Be a full or part-time employee in the District, employed as a teacher or administrator applying for this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possess a Teacher's Certificate, valid Substitute Certificate, or Temporary (provisional) Teacher’s Certificate.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Student-athletes
