Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up, operating, and maintaining Flexo presses.

• Adjust machine settings (speed, ink, pressure, temperature) for print quality.
• Monitor runs for color accuracy and conformity to specs.
• Back up for pre-press area; mount plates and color-correct as needed.
• Maintain production and quality records and assist with housekeeping.
• Cover breaks and support operators to ensure continuous production.

Assistant Flexo Press Operator

Location: Delaware, OH

As an Assistant Flexo Press Operator on Second Shift, you will assist in setting up, operating, and maintaining Flexo printing presses to produce quality printed materials for the folding carton industry. Support the press operation by preparing materials, conducting inspections, and performing minor maintenance tasks to ensure efficient production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to OSHA guidelines on Safety, Hazard Mitigation, Personal Protective Equipment, and Food Safety GMP Practices.
• Experience with Flexo printing or operating a paperboard roll stand, sheeter, or corrugator is required.
• Assist in adjusting machine settings such as speed, ink adjustments, pressure rolls, and temperature to maintain print quality.
• Monitor production runs for print clarity, color accuracy, and conformity to customer specifications.
• Have high attention to detail when inspecting and operating equipment.
• Ability to be a back up for pre-press area on 2nd. Mount plates, color correct and run other flexo equipment as needed.
• Perform routine cleaning, waste removal, and general press area housekeeping.
• Cover breaks or fill-in for operators when necessary.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Grow and learn as an assistant to become a full-time machine operator.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma, GED or relevant years of experience.
• Mechanical aptitude: able to use hand tools, perform troubleshooting, and follow written work instructions or drawings.
• Knowledge of water-based inks and characteristics to printing on different substrates is preferred.
• Able to lift and move tooling and dies weighing up to 50 pounds as necessary.
• Attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and cleanliness in the workplace.

Experience

• Must have a basic experience operating wide and/or narrow web flexographic printing presses, roll stand/sheeter or other paperboard equipment.
• Forklift certification is preferred but not necessary.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, meeting production performance indicators.
