Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Minneapolis/St Paul team. You will help design multi-disciplinary fire protection systems, coordinate with project teams, and support calculations, code compliance, and life safety analyses on diverse client projects.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, collaboration, and documentation. Travel up to 25% is expected, and a strong emphasis on safety policy adherence and professional growth is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Engineers in Training (EIT) preferred.
• NICET certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and multi-discipline coordination of fire protection systems (water-based and alarm).
• Support hydraulic analyses and calculations for water supply and demand.
• Evaluate life safety requirements and building classifications.
• Assist in construction administration and shop drawing reviews.
• Support site evaluations and budgeting activities.
