Job summary

City of Coon Rapids seeks an Assistant Fire Chief of Training & Professional Standards to lead the department's training programs, officer development, and standards compliance in Minnesota. This role reports to the Fire Chief and drives operational readiness, budgeting, and accreditation efforts while mentoring staff and advising on policy development.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration or related field, at least three years of supervisory experience at Battalion

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Administration or closely related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory/administrative experience at the rank of Fire Battalion Chief.
• Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, or delivering firefighter training.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate the department's annual training and professional development program.
• Coordinate all internal and external training for career firefighters.
• Maintain all department training records and ensure compliance with state requirements.
• Develop lesson plans, training calendars, and instructor assignments.
• Lead probationary firefighter training and officer development.
