Job summary

Mattos Hospitality in New York seeks an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to join the Corporate Office. This hands-on role supports the Financial Controller and CFO across revenue reconciliation, AP, GL activity, month-end close, and financial reporting while collaborating with restaurant teams to maintain accurate records.

The ideal candidate has a solid accounting background, meticulous attention to detail, and a practical, solutions-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience; hospitality experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and month‑end close.
• Experience with revenue reconciliation, inventory, COGS, or multi‑unit accounting is a plus.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily revenue reconciliations across restaurant locations.
• Prepare daily and weekly financial reporting and KPI reporting related to revenue, COGS, payroll, and labor.
• Support the accounts payable process including invoice review and vendor payments.
• Prepare general ledger reconciliations and journal entries including bank activity, accruals, and month‑end entries.
• Assist with the monthly close process by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and supporting workpapers; resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly financial statements and reporting packages for review by Financial Controller and CFO.
• Complete tip and commission reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between POS, payroll, and internal records.
• Provide support for tax reporting and budgeting/forecasting.
