Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
• Minimum of five years of experience in business accounting.
• Must possess extensive CFR knowledge and hands-on CFR experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and uphold internal controls and procedures for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
• Supervise the creation of monthly and other financial reports, ensuring GAAP compliance.
• Compile monthly financial reports and summaries for timely reporting to the Finance Committee.
• Oversee the accounting team, including accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Reconcile accounts, perform month-end closings, and maintain fixed asset schedules.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for auditing and tax reporting.
• Assist in CFR preparation for annual reporting and board presentations.
• Coordinate staff training and development plans for the accounting team.
• Support executive management with financial objective recommendations.

The Assistant Finance Director will support the Senior Director of Finance in all financial operations and accounting functions of the organization. This role will be responsible for managing financial reporting, CFR reporting, and auditing and ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported.

Essential Functions

• Develop and uphold internal controls and procedures for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
• Supervise the creation of monthly and other financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP or other financial reporting standards.
• Compile monthly financial reports and summaries for timely reporting to the Finance Committee.
• Oversee the accounting team, including accounts payable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Guarantee accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts, month-end closings, and maintenance of fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
• Create and preserve accurate information and documentation for auditing and tax reporting.
• Assist in the preparation and completion of CFRs for annual reporting.
• Coordinate training programs, identify training needs, and develop plans for current direct report staff.
• Assist with presentations to the Board as needed.
• Offer recommendations to executive management on financial objectives and policies.
• Ensure adherence to professional standards and government regulations.
• Undertake other related duties as necessary or assigned.
• Support in reviewing accounts payable and accounting staff performance.
• Supervise tuition billing and revenue recognition processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in business accounting required, non-profit accounting experience preferred.
• Must possess extensive knowledge and hands‑on experience with CFR.
• Computer proficiency required with Microsoft Office Suite, with demonstrated skill with accounting and spreadsheet applications.
• Management and supervisory experience preferred.
