Position Summary

The Assistant Athletic Field Technician is responsible for undertaking and completing routine and special projects for athletic fields and areas related to athletics. Work requires in-depth knowledge of athletic fields and grounds maintenance. The Athletic Field Technician will determine and schedule all tasks needed to keep the athletic fields in peak condition.

Essential Functions

• Maintain and prepare all athletic fields, including baseball, softball, and soccer fields.
• Perform tasks such as striping, dragging, leveling, laying sod, repairing turf, seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, weed control, and maintaining pitcher mounds and batter boxes.
• Monitor and maintain field lips and edges prior to each season.
• Schedule maintenance with the Athletic Field Team.
• Assist with supervision of employees and special event preparations.
• Conduct safety inspections and maintain inventory of maintenance items and equipment.
• Inspect fields and document inspections.
• Maintain and program irrigation systems.
• Schedule off-season work to ensure successful playing seasons.
• Operate and maintain tools, equipment, trucks, tractors, and landscaping tools.
• Perform general maintenance duties as assigned.
